Kevlar Fiber
Kevlar fiber is a high-performance synthetic fiber composed of poly-para-phenylene terephthalamide. It is renowned for its exceptional strength, stiffness, and abrasion resistance, while also being extremely lightweight. Kevlar is commonly used in manufacturing products that require high strength and durability, such as bulletproof vests and aerospace components.
- Strength and Stiffness: Kevlar fiber is more flexible than carbon fiber, but may be more resilient in certain aspects. According to data, the flexural modulus of Kevlar fiber typically ranges from 70-125 GPa, while carbon fiber ranges from 230-900 GPa. This gives pickleball paddles made with Kevlar fiber better resistance to bending, able to better absorb impacts.
- Abrasion Resistance: Kevlar fiber has outstanding abrasion resistance, being more resistant to wear than carbon fiber. This makes pickleball paddles made with Kevlar fiber more durable, maintaining good appearance and performance over time.
- Lightweight: Although Kevlar fiber is slightly heavier than carbon fiber, it is still lightweight. This makes pickleball paddles made with Kevlar fiber relatively light, aiding in improved player control and swing speed.
- Energy Absorption: Kevlar fiber has good energy absorption, quickly releasing energy upon impact. This helps reduce vibrations during shots, improving paddle stability and control.
